Overview: At Colebrook Consolidated School this year in music, all students will be learning how the music instruments work. We will be examining the string, brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments. In addition, a lesson will be taught on how the piano works to make music. All students will participate in some sort of singing, where it is appropriate in light of Covid 19. Students in Grades 4-6 will take an in depth look at the timeless musical The Phantom of the Opera. Scripts will be passed out, and students will each take a part to read. At then end of the many week session, the musical will be played on the smart board. It is the 25th anniversary at the Royal Albert Hall. In addition, students will be learning music reading and rhythm dictation.

In grades K-3, in addition to some of the above, students will be learning songs with piano accompaniment incorporating movement and dance. Songs chosen will be age appropriate. I will accompany students on the piano. We will also be doing rhythmic "call and response" exercises both vocally and clapping. '

I have taught public school for 42.5 years, and private school for 3 years. If you would like to reach me to discuss anything, the best way is to email me at mvalenti@colebrookschool.org Any questions or comments are most appreciated!
