Pesticide Use

Connecticut General Statutes require schools to notify parents each year concerning policies and procedures for applying pesticides to school buildings and grounds.

Colebrook School has contracted with Marksman, LLC yearly to treat both the soccer field and playscape for tick control.  The company applies a lab-derived version of compounds found in the Chrysanthemum flower. It is safe to go onto the field and playscape as soon as the ground is dry, which is typically 30 minutes.  A sign will be posted for 24 hours following the treatment and CCS will provide prior written notice prior when the application treatments will be conducted.

When the application of pesticides may be required to the school building or grounds, the material would only be applied by a pesticide applicator with supervisory certification or operational certification.  Please refer to school policy, Hazardous Material in School P3524.1.
