2018-2019 School Year
2018 SUMMER READING PROGRAM
Students in Grades K-1 will read 50 picture books. For emerging readers, if parents need to read some books to their child, that is absolutely fine. Students in Grade 2 will read 4 shorter chapter books.
Students in Grades 3-5 read 3 longer chapter books. Students have committed to specific chapter books. The intent is to ensure that students are reading books that are appropriate for their ability. You are welcome to help them select an alternate book, if necessary.
Students need to complete their orange reading log over the summer and bring the completed form to school on the first day of school next year to receive a special incentive. This year, the incentive is a zippered pencil pouch with characters from literature on the front. Incentives are provided by the P.T.O.
The returned forms are also used to calculate the information for the Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge. There is no need to complete a separate form. Thanks, and as always, if you have any questions please call or email Vikki Pac (860-379-2179 or firstname.lastname@example.org).
