Homework Expectations:

Reading:

Independent Reading Books and Logs are expected to travel to and from school each day.

Students should read and log 20-25 minutes of reading Monday through Thursday, and an additional 35-40 total minutes over the weekend.

Why are Reading Logs important?

A reading log is a self-reflection tool that shows students how much they read at home and at school. Logs allow students to record reading volume, stamina, fluency, and other reading habits. They are also used for self-assessment and planning for reading goals.

Spelling:

Spelling lists are sent home each Monday. The back of the spelling sheet lists different activities to help learn their words, but students are not limited to the activities included on the list. The activities do no have to be handed in. The goal is not just to learn words for a test, but to learn them forever!

Math:

Please be on the lookout for Math in Focus communication letters that are sent home at the beginning of each unit. These letters outline the chapter and include activities to do at home.

FACTS, FACTS, FACTS! Practicing basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts will help students when solving two-step story problems throughout the year.
