Dear Parents, As we conclude the current school year, I'd like to share with you some ideas for the summer as well as suggestions for fall school supplies.
Please continue to read and write with your child this summer. We will be reading many books (and beginning chapter books!) in second grade and we will also be writing daily in some form.
In math we will be concentrating on addition and subtraction. The facts up to 18 (9+9) should be mastered during second grade. Please begin practicing these facts over the summer.
As you shop for school supplies, here are some suggestions:
1. Three "pocket folders"—these should be the sturdy PLASTIC type since the cardboard ones bend and fold easily *PLEASE--NO TRAPPER KEEPERS 2. A medium/large backpack
3. Markers (non-permanent) 4. Crayons (16-24) 5. Colored pencils 6. Pencil and erasers (by the truckload) 7. A HARD PLASTIC pencil case
8. A large gluestick (not the liquid type)
Please have a happy and safe summer. I'll be looking forward to meeting you and your second grader in the fall!
Thank you for your cooperation,
Marian Pastore
